Barbara Uthmann

The ore mine-proprietress Barbara Uthmann was one of the knownest people in Annaberg.
Into the legend, she turned particularly through her well-founded tradition of making laces in the Ore Mountains and her alleged "reliefs for the poor".
As publisher of laces and dealer, she employed hundreds of homeworkers and created new possibilities of acquirement after the decline of the silver in the Ore Mountains.
Her figure was assessed very differently to different times and presently, it is argued about the again-erection of a monument for her, in Annaberg.
