Hans Witten,
the most important upper-Saxon Gothic master created this plastic, about 1515. It has a height of 12 feet and was carved from one single standardize-trunk.
The plastic shows Christ, tortured from three hangmen, while a fourth manufactures the crown of thorns to his feet.
Once, this plastic stood in a cloister as an object of meditation. Today, it stands in the northern transept of the palacechurch in Chemnitz.
